Spiral Galaxies Show The Universe To Be Young

How old is the universe? 13.8 billion years? Not if you look at the evidence.

Let's take a trip into deep space where we'll find spiral galaxies. If fact we live in a spiral galaxy. We can see that the stars in our galaxy move at different speeds. The outer stars move slower than the inner stars. The result is that the galaxy should wind up and become a blob of stars in just a few hundred million years. Yet our galaxy is supposed to be over 13 billions years old, and it still has spiral arms! They should be there! Our galaxy is more than 13 billion years old... spiral arms disappear in a couple of hundred million years. The numbers are not adding up. The observable evidence is telling us our galaxy, and the universe, has to be young. It's not billions of years old.

So am I saying our galaxy is 100 million (or more) years old? No. Our Milky Way galaxy should have fallen apart 200 to 300 million years ago. That's a long time, but it does not mean our galaxy has been around for that long. It's just the upper limit. The Milky Way is in good condition and appears fairly new... so 6,000 years is not an unreasonable age. BUT, it is certainly not 13+ BILLION years old.

What About Distant Galaxies?

When we look out to the "edges of the universe," what do we see? Galaxies, but the furthest ones are too far away for us to see their shape. However, what is puzzling is that, when we look at galaxies that far away we are supposedly looking back 13.3 billion years in time. That's how long it would take the light from the farthest observed galaxy to reach us based on evolutionary thinking. This means we are seeing that furthest galaxy as it was just 500 million years after the big bang. To be 13 billion light years away from us in 13.8 billion years means that galaxy must be moving away from us at an average of 96% of the speed of light. The numbers don't make sense.

Wide and Narrow Roads

Many people, when they die, will stand before Jesus and say:

Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles? - Matthew 7:22

And Jesus will say to them:

I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness. - Matthew 7:23

Get your Bible out and read Matthew 7:21-23. These are some of the most frightening verses in the Bible.

They describe people who believe with all their heart that they are saved. They have no doubt that they know Jesus and they've done many great things that prove this is true. Put Jesus says, 'Depart from me...' He doesn't know them.

Are you truly trusting Jesus? Scripture says to examine yourself to see if you are in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5). Have you done that?

Do you read your Bible regularly? Do you fear false teaching? Are you growing in your obedience to God? Are you growing in your understanding of what God wants? Do you regularly share the good news about Jesus with others?
