If You Met Satan, Would You Recognize Him?

Satan is described as the most beautiful angel (Ezekiel 28:12-15). Satan and demons are fallen angels, and that means they are spirits. But they can manifest a physical appearance, and in presenting himself to us, Satan disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). Satan is also described as the father of lies (John 8:44). He is a deceiver and is described as prowling "like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." (1 Peter 5:8) So we know he is aggressive and wants to "devour" people, which we take to mean, in part, to trap them in unrepentant sin and death.

Satan is often pictured as either a cartoonish red being with horns and a pitchfork, or as a dark and and sinister being, sometimes with wings. Both are unrealistic caricatures.

We also know Satan is not God. He can only be in one place at a time. And he is not omniscient. However, he is very intelligent and he has 6,000 years of experience deceiving humans.

The truth is we are very easy to deceive. An example I use is Derren Brown (search for him on YouTube). He is a stage performer who is a mentalist, and he readily admits that he does not have special powers. What he does have is knowledge of human nature and how to manipulate people. He can plant a thought in your mind, and then make you think he is reading your mind. He can manipulate you to do things, that you decide to do of your own free will. If a human man can do this, we don't stand a chance against Satan (on our own).

If I had to describe Satan, I'd say he is the best liar and con-man who has ever existed. He is probably charming, and appears very honest, as he deceives you into believing his lies. And without Jesus Christ, you'll never know it. That's why unbelievers are called children of the devil.

The Big Lie

All of this is important because we are in a spiritual battle. The battle is centered on Jesus Christ and Satan's main weapons are lies. In this spiritual battle, how can we tell we are falling for one of Satan's lies? If it is leading us away from Jesus, then it is a lie. Evolution is the biggest lie Satan has going. How do we know it is a lie? Put it to the test. Does belief in evolution bring us closer to Jesus Christ, or lead us away from Jesus Christ? Answer: evolution replaces God with random chance (random mutations). It is leading you away from God and Jesus.

Consider This

How does God say everyone knows He is real? It's in Romans 1:20 --

"For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

Also Psalm 19: "The heavens declare the glory of God."

Everyone knows there is a God through His creation. God makes it clear. Just by looking at creation everyone knows there is a God. They are WITHOUT EXCUSE.

What does believing in evolution do? Removes God as creator. If you believe in evolution, what do you see when you look at creation? Nothing. Just random chance operating over billions of years. Evolution is Satan's BIG LIE. Don't fall for it.

THE ANSWER TO RIOTS

solution to riots

Everything is falling apart, nothing makes sense anymore. What's happening?

What is happening is that the world has turned away from God. When nations turn away from God, strangely enough, God turns His back on them. We find out what it is like to live without God.

There is only one thing to do... repent, turn to Jesus Christ in obedience. Jesus said:

If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. - John 14:15

This can only be done on an individual basis. Don't look to others turning to God and making things better for you. YOU must repent, turn away from disobedience. Love God! Obey what He says. Read the Bible to find out what He says.

It happens one person at a time, starting with you. Don't put it off today. Turn to Jesus Christ, God who came to earth in human flesh to save us from the penalty we've earned as a result of our disobedience (sin). He will do it! ...

BUT ONLY when you believe this is true and put your trust in Jesus. Trust Jesus today. Repent (turn away from what the world wants and to what God wants).

Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” - Matthew 4:17
