Going From You To Goo - Genetic Entropy

Our parents passed on 100 new mutations to us. We passed on an additional 100 new mutations to our children. And they will do they same, passing on another 100 new mutations to their generation. Generation after generation, each adds (on the avergage) 100 new mutations. This has been going on since Adam and Eve... the mutations continue to pile up. That's why, in Leviticus 18 God adds a prohibition in the civil law, against marrying a close relative. Before then it was okay, and genetically safe, to marry a brother, sister or cousin.

Are Mutations Harmful?

The easy way to answer this question is... when you go to the dentist, do you refuse the lead apron they lay on your lap when they take X-rays? That lead apron is to protect you from mutation causing X-rays. If you believe mutations are good, refuse the lead apron and welcome the mutations. (Not a good idea.)

The answer is, mutations are harmful. This has been known since the 1950s. Yes, a mutation can result in a short-term benefit, but it comes at the cost of damage to your genome.

"The mutation rate affects not only the evolution of the human species but also the life of the individual. Almost every mutation is harmful, and it is the individual who pays the price. Any human activity that tends to increase the mutation rate must therefore raise serious health and moral problems for man.” James F. Crow, “Ionizing Radiation and Evolution,” Scientific American, vol. 201 (September 1959), pages 138-160 (emphasis added).

"Most mutations producing effects large enough to be observed are deleterious, although mutations may produce little or no consequence.” John W. Drake, “Environmental Mutagenic Hazards" Science vol 187, (February 14, 1975), page 503-14.

"Mutations are found to be of a random nature, so far as their utility is concerned. Accordingly, the great majority of mutations, certainly well over 99 percent, are harmful in some way, as is to be expected of the effects of accidental occurrences." H.J. Muller, "Radiation Damage to the Genetic Material," American Scientist, vol. 38, (January 1950), pages 33-50, 126.

The answer to the question is, YES, mutations are harmful.

Mutations Accumulate, Adding 100 Per Generation

Genticists have determined that, on the average each generation adds 100 new mutations. That means your grandparents had 100 more mutations than their parents. And their children (your parents) had 100 more mutations than they had. And you have 100 more mutations than your parents. And so on, generation after generation, each one adding 100 new mutations. Give these two facts, mutations are harm and 100 new mutations are added each generation, where are we headed? We are not evolving upward. We are de-evolving, slowly degenerating generation after generation. It's called genetic entropy and it is the opposite of evolution.

THE WIDE OR
NARROW WAY?

Wide and Narrow Roads

Most people choose the wide road. It's the way everyone else is going. It's wide and it's an easy road, so it must be the right road. But it's the wrong way!

Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. - Matthew 7:13

The wide road, and wide gate is our choice based what feels good. But our feelings (our heart) are deceptive.

The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick; - Jeremiah 17:9

Christianity... meaning belief in Jesus Christ... is not a blind faith driven by emotions. It is an informed faith, based on historical facts and truth.

The truth is that we are law breakers (sinners) in need of a Savior from the just wrath of God. That Savior is Jesus Christ.

Trusting Jesus is not the easy way. It is the narrow road, through a narrow gate, and it can be difficult at times. But it is the right way to go. And it is the only way to have eternal life in Christ Jesus.

Trust Jesus. Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. - Acts 16:31

THE ANSWER

"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes."
